Baklawa stuffed with pistachio, honey aromatized with orange blossom

A nut based dessert with filo and honey.  Perfumed with orange blossom water!


Recipe for 12 Tapas

Phyllo dough
100 Gr
Almond powder
100 Gr
125 Ml
Melted butter
15 Gr

Honey syrup

200 Ml
10 Ml
Orange blossom water
100 Gr
50 Ml

Preparation time: 60.00 min

Preheat your four at 300.00 °F

  • Honey syrup

    In a sauce pot, heat all the ingredients until the sugar is completely dissolved.  Set aside and let cool.

  • Baklawa

    Run the pistachios through the food processor until they reach the same consistency as the almonds, then combine the nuts and the sugar.

    Place a sheet of filo on your work surface and brush with butter. Repeat this step until you reach 3 sheets of filo.  Spread a third of the nut mix on the edge of the sheet and then roll a tight roll.  Cut the roll into 2 and place it in a square mold.  Repeat this process three times and then place the preparation in the oven for roughly one hour, or until golden.  Once you remove from the oven, pour the syrup over top of the pastry, then let rest ideally overnight.  Make your portions and then serve.

You can use any type of nut you like for this recipe, feel free to experiment.
