The story of Tanqueray began in 1830 in London, when Charles Tanqueray, the son of a clergyman, founded his own distillery in the Bloomsbury district. At a time when gin was immensely popular in England, he sought to stand out by creating a more refined and well-balanced spirit.

Tanqueray developed a recipe based on a few essential botanicals, notably juniper, coriander, angelica, and licorice. This relatively minimalist approach became one of the brand’s defining signatures.

Over time, Tanqueray became an international benchmark for London Dry Gin, renowned for its dry, elegant profile and distinctive juniper-forward character.
